Lyrics

The wheels on the bus go
round and round
round and round
round and round
the wheels on the bus go
round and round
all through the town

History
The wheels on the bus is a very popular folk song in the United States. This song has been sung since the 20th century. When children in the UK on bus rides would get very bored, they sang this song to keep themselves amused. The writer of the song is unknown but it was based off of the nursery rhyme, “Here We go round the Mulberry Bush.” Timothy Armstrong made a children’s tv series based on the song. It became very popular and kids loved it! The meaning of the song is moving on in life. Even if people sing it to amuse themselves, it explains moving forward in life and achieving your goals. Many people do not know this and they use the song in a different way. Over all it is a catchy nursery rhyme and has a good moral and meaning to it.
